LRSN launches new freephone Helpline number
On Thursday 25th June at the Lincolnshire Show we launched our new Helpline Number following changes by Ofcom, the communications regulator, to the way consumers are charged for calling numbers beginning 08. The changes being introduced are intended to make the costs of calling 08 numbers more transparent and easier to understand. The new LRSN Helpline number 0800 138 1710 will go live on the 1st July and will now be free to callers from both landlines and mobile networks.
The Helpline is an essential part of our service to support farmers who are finding it difficult to cope with stressful situations such as debt, repossession, poor physical or mental health and the breakdown of relationships. The Helpline is open from 8am- 6pm everyday throughout the year.
Alison Twiddy, Project Manager for Lincolnshire Rural Support Network speaking to an audience in the Brown and Co marquee at the Lincolnshire Show said: “Lincolnshire is one of the most rural counties in the country with many farmers working in this area struggling due to falling commodity prices and increasing overheads. The work of the charity is to ensure farmers can access appropriate advice and support. By offering this freephone Helpline we can be assured that no one will face any barriers in trying to contact us if they have a problem.”
Sophie Dunn, LRSN’s Administrator, said “The new number will come in to force on the 1st July which has given us time to incorporate the new number, 0800 138 1710 into all our PR material. However any one ringing the old number will be automatically given the new Helpline number to call by our Helpline provider so no one will be left stranded and unable to contact us. Last year we had over 77 calls to the help line so it is a vital communications channel for Lincolnshire’s farmers to speak to someone from LRSN.”
