Celebrating LRSN's Investing in Volunteers achievement

On Thursday 29th June LRSN celebrated it’s achievement of attaining the “Investing in Volunteers” standard, with it’s volunteers, staff, and patrons.

LRSN at the Lincolnshire Show

It was a busy couple of days at the Lincolnshire Show (21st and 22nd June) for us here at LRSN. We are very fortunate to be offered a "home" in the NFU marquee which is always so beautifully decorated and well attended throughout the two days by many of our friends and supporters, giving us a great opportunity to catch up on everyone's news and progress within the industry.

LRSN "tee off" their Charity Golf Day!

Another successful charity golf day, held in conjunction with our golfing partners Woldmarsh Producers, saw 24 teams teeing off on the beautiful Blankney Golf Course, in glorious weather, and returning with many a tale of the good, and the not so good, shots played over the 18 greens. LRSN and partners launch the Rural + Workshop

On 5th February 2017 LRSN, NFYFC, Lincs Young Farmers and FCN launched the Rural+ Workshop at the Lincolnshire Showground to train LRSN caseworkers and volunteers and "Train the Trainer" accredited  Young Farmers, FCN volunteers, and other partners to deliver the Rural+ initiative to Young Farmers' clubs all over the country over the next 12-18 months.

LRSN ready to help after avian flu outbreak confirmed in Lincolnshire

We continue to follow reports and reccomendations for farmers following the confirmed presence of another Avian Influenza outbreak at a turkey farm in Lincolnshire on the 26th January 2017.  We have made sure all our Caseworkers and Helpliners are aware of the situation and are ready to help those closely affected by the disease outbreak in the County, and the resulting restrictions on their poultry units and/or businesses.

The Grange and Links "Lincolnshire Dinner" held on 1st October, 2016 in aid of LRSN

On the 1st of October, Lincolnshire Day, The Grange and Links held a Lincolnshire Dinner in aid of LRSN and to celebrate many of Lincolnshire's fine food producers. The evening was a great success and raised approx. £500 for LRSN! Thank you to everyone involved!!

Duncan Toplis in full swing for LRSN

A huge thank you to Duncan Toplis for raising £1500 for LRSN at their annual charity golf day held on Friday the 1st July 2016 at Belton Woods near Grantham.

162 keen golfers pitched, putted and swung their way to raising £3,000 for two charities, the Lincolnshire Rural Support Network and  the Belvoir Castle Cricket and Countryside Trust at their 26th annual charity golf day.

Brigg Rotary President backs LRSN

Outgoing President Nick Wells of Brigg Rotary Club nominated LRSN as one of his recipients for a charitable donation from the Brigg Rotarians at the end of his year as club president and presented a cheque to LRSN's Richard Alderson in June for the sum of £500.

A big thank you to Nick and to all fellow Brigg Rotarians for supporting LRSN with their magnificent fundraising efforts throughout the year.

The Second Lincolnshire Rural Charities Dinner raises over £42,000!

On the 7th April 2016 the second "Lincolnshire Rural Charities Dinner" was held in the magnificent setting of the Epic Centre on the Lincolnshire Showground; and what a memorable night it was!

The evening was a fantastic success raising over £40K for four great Lincolnshire Charities – LRSN, the Lincolnshire Agricultural Society, the Lincolnshire and Nottinghamshire Air Ambulance Charitable Trust and the Lincolnshire Agricultural Chaplaincy.

We are delighted that HM The Queen has approved the nomination of the Revd Dr Nicholas Alan Chamberlain as the next Bishop of Grantham.
Nicholas (51) has been Vicar of the parish of St George and St Hilda, Jesmond, in the Diocese of Newcastle, for nine years.

LRSN launches new freephone Helpline number

On Thursday 25th June at the Lincolnshire Show we launched our new Helpline Number following changes by Ofcom, the communications regulator, to the way consumers are charged for calling numbers beginning 08.  The changes being introduced are intended to make the costs of calling 08 numbers more transparent and easier to understand. The new LRSN Helpline number 0800 138 1710 will go live on the 1st July and will now be free to callers from both landlines and mobile networks.

LRSN Charity Golf Day raises £5200

On the 15th May 2015, Lincolnshire Rural Support Network (LRSN) and Woldmarsh Producers Ltd hosted our “Annual Charity Golf Day” at Blankney Golf Club, raising approximately £5,200 for LRSN.

The Charity Golf Day was in memory of Dick Patrick, OBE, a founder member of LRSN and instrumental in setting up the LRSN charity golf days that we still run today and a special award, the Dick Patrick Memorial Trophy, was introduced in his memory.

Walking the Wolds to raise funds for LRSN

The Wolds Fundraisers are a group of women in the Horncastle area of Lincolnshire who annually raise money for local charities, the committee has been together for over 20 years and usually holds two events a year.  This year they chose to support Lincolnshire Rural Support Network for their annual May Dog Walk which this year took place at Oxcombe Manor nr Horncastle, courtesy of Suzannah Gorst, on Sunday, 10th May 2015.

Important information from the NFU- The BPS process

The NFU has advised that the RPA are now sending out claim forms- the application process has begun so they are urging everyone to make sure that they have registered with the RPA as there are still 12% of claimants  in our region that need to register on the new system.
The NFU went on to say that "Over 70,000 pre-populated BPS forms have been sent out this week via email by the RPA to farmer claimants. This heralds the start of the BPS paper based application. The RPA have also sent...

The Lincolnshire Rural Charities Race Day

On the 12th April 2015, LRSN and the Lincolnshire and Nottinghamshire Air Ambulance co-hosted our “Lincolnshire Rural Charities Race Day” at Market Rasen Racecourse in the Brocklesby suite. New Medical Director for LRSN

We are delighted to welcome Dr Annie Borrill who is our new Medical Director.

Annie was brought up on the family farm at Hibaldstow near Brigg. Studying Medicine at Newcastle University Annie trained to become a GP and has been a GP partner in Epworth, North Lincs since 2001. Annie is married to Nigel Johnson, a pig, poultry and arable farmer and lives in Belton, North Lincolnshire.

On Saturday morning, November 29th, LRSN welcomed Dr Roger Bretherton to their training session on Depression and Anxiety Awareness at the Lincoln Hotel, Lincoln.

Brown and Co Charity Quiz raises £500 for LRSN

Brown & Co Property and Business Consultants in Spalding held a charity quiz on Monday evening at Vine House Farm, Deeping St. Nicholas. The weather was glorious and the venue was beautiful with a tasty hog roast for all to enjoy. The event was strongly supported by over 100 farmers and local businesses. In all £1000 was raised, which was split between LRSN and The Lincolnshire Wildlife Trust.

Fun in the sun at LRSN Charity Golf Day

This year’s charity golf day with Woldmarsh Producers promised to be our best yet and we were not left disappointed! The weather stayed fine, the atmosphere was friendly and the food was wonderful. We have so far raised just over £6000 for LRSN which will help us to sustain our work in the farming and rural communities, helping those Lincolnshire farmers and farming families in need of support through some difficult times in their lives.
